 Diagrams and Functions of 10 Internal Organs


    • Diagram: A complex, three-dimensional organ at the top of the body. 
    • Function: Controls and coordinates all body activities and processes information. 
    • Diagram: A fist-sized, muscular organ located in the chest. 
    • Function: Pumps blood throughout the body, delivering oxygen and nutrients to other organs. 
    • Diagram: Two large, spongy organs located in the chest cavity. 
    • Function: Facilitate the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the blood. 
    • Diagram: A large organ situated in the upper right abdomen. 
    • Function: Processes nutrients, detoxifies blood, and performs other vital functions. 
    • Diagram: Two bean-shaped organs located on either side of the spine. 
    • Function: Filter waste, balance electrolytes, and remove excess fluid from the blood to produce urine. 
    • Diagram: A J-shaped organ in the upper abdomen. 
    • Function: Mixes food with digestive juices to break it down for the intestines. 
    • Diagram: A long, coiled tube in the abdomen below the stomach. 
    • Function: Absorbs most of the nutrients from the food you eat into the blood. 
  1. Large Intestine (Colon):
    • Diagram: A wider tube surrounding the small intestine. 
    • Function: Absorbs water and electrolytes from indigestible food matter and forms feces. 
    • Diagram: An organ located behind the stomach. 
    • Function: Produces enzymes that help digest food and hormones, like insulin, that regulate blood sugar. 
    • Diagram: A dark red organ located under the ribs, to the left of the stomach. 
    • Function: Filters blood, removes old red blood cells, and is part of the immune system.
